Grieg Lodge Leikarringen

Welcome graphic

Grieg Lodge Leikarringen is based in Portland, Oregon, USA.  Founded in 1934, it is the first and oldest Scandinavian dance group in the area.  Leikarringen literally means "play circle" and refers to a circle of dancers.  It has come to mean a dance group that performs Norwegian dances.

Our leikarringen practices dances from all the nordic countries.  We are a learning and demonstration group and have danced at the Portland Scandinavian Midsummer's Fest, Grieg Lodge's May 17th festivities, ScanFair and the Oregon State Fair.  Our group is made up of a variety of levels of dancers, and the more advanced dancers help the beginners learn the various steps.

No experience is required.  We accept ages 3 and up, and parents are encouraged to come dance with their children.  We dance for fun and to continue the traditions of the Scandinavian and Scandinavian-American culture.  For those who wish to, the group does dance demonstrations two to four times a year.

Regular Practice Times:

Leikarringen:  7:00 - 7:30 pm 1st & 3rd Tuesdays

Family Dinner:  6:30 pm 1st Tuesday
